Intercash cards

Provider Overview

Intercash is one of the world’s leading providers of global payment solutions, with a special focus on white-label card programs. In our system, Intercash is currently integrated for prepaid card issuing, while debit card functionality is planned for future development (subject to client requests). White-label partners (WLs) that work with Intercash typically receive their own Intercash admin interface to manage cards and a pooling account, though we recommend that all card-related actions be performed through the Crassula system to maintain synchronization.

Currencies Supported

Intercash typically issues single-currency cards. Users can hold multiple cards in different currencies (e.g., EUR, USD, GBP). Multi-currency cards are also possible, though less common. In the Crassula test environment, only EUR is used.

In production, Intercash offers:

  • EUR, USD, GBP for European programs.

  • USD, CAD for North American programs.

  • MXN, USD for LATAM programs.

Client Information Required to Issue a Card

The following client details must be present before issuing an Intercash card:

  1. Full address.

  2. Phone number.

  3. Identification document (ID/passport).

  4. Proof of address (e.g., utility bill).

Without these, the card issuance request may fail.

Documents Upload

Two documents must be attached to the client’s profile:

  1. ID (for personal identification).

  2. Address confirmation (e.g., utility bill).

These documents are sent automatically to Intercash upon card issuance. Any errors or mismatches (e.g., expired ID) will appear in the card logs. If a client updates their documents later, an additional manual submission to Intercash may be required until automated updates are fully implemented.

Cards Top-Up Work

Card top-ups in Intercash follow a specific flow:

  1. Crassula debits the client’s balance on another provider account (e.g., ClearJunction) and credits the WL’s interledger or CJ account for the same amount.

  2. A top-up request is sent to Intercash to load the corresponding amount onto the client’s Intercash card, drawing from the WL’s pooling account on Intercash.

  3. The final confirmation from Intercash can take up to 30 minutes to reflect.

Note: Intercash may charge a per-request fee for the top-up API.

Pooling Account

The Intercash pooling account (also called “ABL” account) is the WL’s dedicated fund source for card transactions. WLs must wire money into this account, which Intercash uses for card loading and any associated fees. Crassula only notifies Intercash to debit or credit the card; the actual balance movement occurs in Intercash’s system.

Accounts for Fees

Additional separate fee accounts are typically not required for Intercash. Existing virtual fee accounts can be used for any fees applied by Crassula.

Card Shipment and Card Issuing Fees

  • Card Shipment Fee: Handled in system configurations (tech support). Billed in the system’s default currency.

  • Issuing Fee: Configured in the Price Lists. Always debited in the WL’s default currency, converting if necessary.

Clients see a single combined fee at card ordering: the sum of the shipment and issuing fees.

Suspend of the Card

Intercash does not support a freeze/unfreeze flow directly, but instead uses a “suspend” status. In Crassula, “suspend” is labeled as freeze. To unsuspend (unfreeze), an email is sent to the WL’s configured address, who then must coordinate with Intercash support or the Intercash admin panel to lift the suspension. Once Intercash confirms reactivation, a “Recheck status” action in Crassula updates the card’s status.

Card Issuing Options for Both Plastic & Virtual Card Scheme

Clients may choose either plastic or virtual cards. If offering both options, you can configure a card issuing flow that presents both choices during card ordering.

Conversion Card Fee Charge

When converting from virtual to plastic, Intercash can deduct any conversion fee either:

  1. From the user’s card balance.

  2. From the WL’s pooling account.

This setting is configurable in Crassula’s environment.

Default Card Settings

Intercash imposes default card settings for features such as 3DS, ATM withdrawals, and online payments. In Crassula, these appear in the config as default_settings.

How to Change:

  1. Tech Board Configuration: Request a change in the default settings for new cards.

  2. Optional Deb Board Manual Update: If necessary, also request updates for existing cards.
