Mandatory "Purpose" field for SWIFT transfers to the UAE

Who is affected

All clients using the Railsr provider for SWIFT transfers to UAE.

What is changing

To comply with destination country requirements, a mandatory "purpose" field will be introduced for all SWIFT transfers to the UAE. This change will apply to both individual and batch payment flows processed via the following API methods:

  • POST /api/clients/{clientId}/transfer/dynamic/swift

  • POST /api/clients/{clientId}/batch-transfers

The requirement ensures regulatory compliance and successful processing of international payments to the UAE.

Expected release

LATE JUNE - MID-AUGUST

Instructions

Please ensure your bank transfers and batch payments file templates are updated to include the "purpose" field when submitting SWIFT payments to UAE.

Consequences

SWIFT transfers to the UAE that do not include the "purpose" field will be rejected by the payment processor once the change is enforced. To avoid disruptions, update your integration and inform your operations teams in advance.
